A proposal from W/C Johnston Consulting Ltd. to provide the director of disaster services for the town was approved by council during the March 18 meeting.

The services will cost a maximum of $7,000 per year for the town, excluding services during an incident of a major disaster.

The company has provided these services since February of 2007 and will continue to provide them until Feb. 28, 2015.

North West Fire Rescue & Training also put in a bid but failed to meet the requirements, according to the request for decision submitted to council by Wanda Watson-Neufeld, the town's director of corporate services.

Council awarded the contract for the development of the Master Recreation Plan (MRP) to company RC Strategies.

The amount of the contract is $48,953.

Council also approved the use of up to $70,000 for the completion of the MRP, which is allocated in the budget.

The goal of the MRP is to assess the town's existing recreation assets and to gain recommendations from engagement with the public on how to improve them.

The MRP is to be completed by fall of this year.

Council approved the company's proposal during the Feb. 19 meeting.

Superior Safety Codes was appointed as the vendor to provide safety code services to the Town of Sundre, during the March 18 council meeting.

The services will involve the building, electrical, plumbing, gas and private sewage disciplines to the town.

The town only received one submission regarding safety code services, which was from Superior Safety Codes.

The company has been providing the town's safety code services since 2009.
