There will be municipal election races in Mountain View County divisions 1, 6 and 7, with candidates elected by acclamation in divisions 2, 3, 4 and 5, according to unofficial nomination results released Monday.
In Division 1, Brent Bushert, a farmer, will face off against massage therapist Jeremy Sayer. Both men are seeking public office for the first time.
Kevin Good, the incumbent in the division, did not seek re-election.
In Division 6, general contractor Ron Vogel is facing off against farmer Ken Heck. Incumbent Paddy Munro did not seek re-election.
In Division 7, incumbent Al Kemmere, a farmer, is facing off against challenger Steve Algra, an independent businessman.
In Division 2, incumbent Patricia McKean was acclaimed.
In Division 3, incumbent Duncan Milne was acclaimed.
In Division 4, incumbent Bruce Beattie was acclaimed.
In Division 5, newcomer Angela Aalbers was acclaimed. In that division, incumbent Bob Orr did not seek re-election.
All candidates have until Sept. 24 at noon to withdraw their candidacy.
Mountain View County reeve and deputy reeve will be elected by council members at the municipality's organizational meeting following the Oct. 21 election.
