Gettin' the hang of skateboarding in Sundre (3 photos)

Clinic for boys also started this month at Sundre Curling Rink before classes move over to skate park

SUNDRE — A couple groups of girls recently got the hang of balancing on a skateboard through a clinic that started late last month.

The clinic was put on in partnership between Ride N Glide adventure rentals owner Katie Jo Munro and the Greenwood Neighbourhood Place Society with support from Stephen Pietsch, skateboard instructor as well as Sundre High School math and science teacher.

The program started in late May with an introduction to the basics at the Sundre Community Centre’s gym before the classes, which were broken into two age groups from 5 to 9 years old as well as 10 to 15, moved over to the Sundre Skate Park for an introduction to more advanced skills on features like ramps.

A boys’ clinic got started on Thursday, June 16 at the Sundre Curling Rink, and will also eventually progress over to the skate park.
