GNP's Charity Check Stop in Sundre raises over $10,000

Annual fundraising event helps ensure Greenwood Neighbourhood Place Society continues being able to deliver programs, services

SUNDRE – There were 20 volunteers who on Friday, Sept. 13 stepped up to support the Greenwood Neighbourhood Place Society’s annual Charity Check Stop alongside members of the municipality’s fire department as well as RCMP and community peace officers.

Following rainy conditions just the day prior, cloudy skies parted to pave the way for a bright, sun-shining day that seemed to boost not only people’s spirits but also their generosity, with the fundraiser bringing in a little more than $10,000, said organizer Kim Free, who expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this year’s event so successful.

“The weather was perfect, the motorists were lovely, and we felt so supported by local organizations, businesses, and volunteers,” said Free.

Proceeds will help to ensure the society continues being able to deliver programs and services that in turn support the community.
