SUNDRE – An imposter who managed to obtain valid tracking numbers was able to fraudulently claim some FedEx packages from a local business, and Mounties say they are now looking for help identifying and finding a suspect.
On Monday, Dec. 5 at about 11:25 a.m., a male entered the Bear’s Den Clothing Co. on the west side of town and claimed to be picking up the packages on behalf of someone else, the Sundre RCMP reported in a press statement issued Tuesday, Dec. 13.
“The suspect provided the tracking numbers to the shipping agent, which were valid,” reads a portion of the release, adding the male then signed for the packages before leaving with them.
However, the owner of the packages reportedly did not send the individual to pick up the delivery and is now missing their property, said police.
The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male in his late 20s to mid 30s who speaks with a strong accent and was wearing a dark blue jacket with grey pants and brown boots as well as diamond studs in each ear. He is about 1.85- to 1.9-metres tall (6-foot, 1-inch to 6-foot, 3-inches), said police.
