A man drove away from Race Trac Gas on Main Avenue last week with a gas nozzle still in his vehicle's gas tank.

Members of the Sundre fire department were called to the gas station at about 3:30 p.m. last Wednesday. Personnel didn't see any gas on the ground but they were called in as part of the gas station's protocol.

“Someone put the nozzle in and drove away. He forgot to take the hose out,” said Eric Lee, manager of Race Trac Gas.

He noted that the driver was by himself in the vehicle.

“The connecting part to the pump and hose broke, so we borrowed a part from another gas station,” he said.

He did not know of an estimated cost of damage at press time. This is the first time this type of situation has happened at the gas station.
