Legion installations bring new executive

The annual installation of officers for the Sundre Royal Canadian Legion and ladies auxiliary took place at the legion on Jan. 18 with guests from Carstairs and Olds attending.

The annual installation of officers for the Sundre Royal Canadian Legion and ladies auxiliary took place at the legion on Jan. 18 with guests from Carstairs and Olds attending.

District 5 Commander Dino Michaud from Airdrie was the installing officer for the branch and past District 5 Commander Madam Gillian Reap of Sundre was the installing officer for the ladies auxiliary.

Outgoing branch president Comrade Harvey Shevalier and outgoing ladies auxiliary president Madam Helen Shevalier both thanked all legion and community members for their ongoing support.

Comrade Shevalier also thanked the ladies auxiliary for its continued support to the branch. Each gave reports on the past year's activities, donations given to the community and assistance given to veterans.

District commander Dino Michaud presented Comrade Marvin Hopkins with the prestigious Golden Anniversary Medal for 50 years of dedicated service. Congratulations Hoppy!

Incoming branch president Comrade Marie Coderre thanked the previous executive for its hard work and contributions. She also thanked pianist Jean Dickman and bugler Jennifer Day for their contribution to the ceremonies and the Light Horse Association for its help in the kitchen.

Incoming ladies auxiliary president Madam Yvonne Hopkins also thanked the outgoing ladies auxiliary executive. They both expressed their wishes that all members of the legion and the community continue to work together in support of the legion and its goals.
