The Sundre Museum was broken into in recent weeks with exhibits damaged and a wolf hide stolen.
“They had gotten in through the page wire fence that's around the enclosure,” said Darlene Smee, manager of the museum. “There wasn't a whole bunch of damage, there was a door kicked in.”
Museum officials immediately noticed the wolf hide was missing, and since the break in occurred, they have been noticing that other items are missing as well, she said.
Jack Nichol, president of the Sundre & District Historical Society, said the value of the wolf hide is around $500.
“It's very sad that we work hard at the museum to keep the history alive and keep things looking in good shape and then we have people come in that just have nothing better to do.”
She believes the museum has never been broken into before.
The break in occurred some time during the evening of June 19 and the early morning of June 20. Sundre RCMP officers are investigating.
Anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to call the detachment at 403-638-3675 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
