The Sundre Museum and World of Wildlife had a very busy 2011 and are looking forward to an even busier 2012. We will be holding our usual events: Winterfest, International Museums Day, Aboriginal Day, Canada Day and Alberta Arts Day and hope to host a few other events throughout the year.
We are planning Winterfest at the moment and are looking for artists and entertainers so if you know of anyone who would be interested in being part of this event please let the museum know.
There are a few major celebrations taking place in 2012 such as the 65th anniversary of the Canadian Museums Association, 200th Anniversary of the War of 1812, Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee (60 years) and 100-year anniversary of the Calgary Stampede.
The Sundre Museum would like to put together some exhibits focusing on the last two events, Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the 100th anniversary of the Calgary Stampede, and we would like the community to become involved in this endeavour.
If anyone has any memorabilia on either of these topics we would love to be able to add them to our exhibit.
We would ask that you loan the articles to the museum until September so we can leave the displays up throughout the summer for everyone to enjoy, then the articles would be returned to you.
We would like to start right away putting these exhibits together so the sooner we receive articles the sooner we can get started.
If you have any questions about these exhibits or loaning of articles please feel free to contact the museum at 403-638-3233 or email [email protected]
