Calgary police and RCMP officers are seeking tips in a collision involving a Sundre man, who was found dead in a vehicle that was reported stolen, in Calgary, last month.
Dylan Perry, who was in his early 20s, was found dead in the ditch along Burma Road in the Bearspaw area, in a 2013 Dodge Challenger. RCMP officers found him around 3 a.m. on Sept. 14 and Cochrane RCMP Cpl. Mel Calahasen said speed was a factor in the collision.
That evening Perry had been at Jamesons Irish Pub, located on 17th Avenue SW, Calgary, and it is unknown when and how he left.
“It is believed Mr. Perry travelled from 17 Avenue and 14 Street SW, in Calgary, to Burma Road, just west of Bearspaw Road, in a 2013 Dodge Challenger between the hours of 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.,” explained Calahasen.
He said the vehicle was reported stolen to the Calgary Police Service about two hours before the collision.
“We're trying to establish a timeline of events from the time he left Jamesons Pub to the time leading up to the collision on Burma Road,” he told the Round Up.
When Perry hit the ditch, he struck a fence post that came into the vehicle and killed him instantly. He apparently stayed at Jamesons longer than his friends and texted one of them around 2 a.m. to tell him he was heading home.
Sundre RCMP Cpl. Ryan Hodge said that Sundre RCMP is not involved with the investigation and is not seeking tips from the public. He said officers knew of Perry's name, but that he was not extremely familiar to the detachment.
If anyone has any information regarding the incident, they are asked to call the Cochrane RCMP detachment at 403-851-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
