Tank and pump stolen
Sundre RCMP are asking for public tips after a pump and tank were stolen
On June 16, police receive a report that a 100 gallon Westell-Rosco slip tank and pump was taken from a property northwest of town.
Anyone with information is being asked to call Sundre RCMP at 403-638-3675.
Meanwhile police are again warning residents about two recent scams that have surfaced in the community.
In the first case, several residents have received telephone calls from someone claiming to represent IBM, Apple or some other computer company.
The person calling claims he can remotely remove viruses from the resident's computer if given remote access. Once he has gained access, the scammer can steal personal information such as banking records.
The scammer is also asking the resident to pay for the computer fix with a credit card.
“Obviously no legitimate company is going to go through something like this,” said Const. Chris Ziolkowski.
In a second case, residents have been receiving emails where the scammer claims to represent Revenue Canada and is offering a tax refund if the resident will only provide social insurance numbers and bank account access information.
The emails are addressed “Dear Taxpayer”, he said.
“This is also a scam,” he said.
Sundre RCMP have recently had a number of bicycles turned in at the detachment. Anyone wishing to claim a lost bike can go to the detachment.
