A pair of kittens rescued after they were dumped in a recycling bin and nearly killed by a baling machine have found homes for Christmas.
The female kittens were adopted and taken to separate homes within two hours of each other on Dec. 16.
They were being cared for at the Olds Pioneer Veterinary Centre, and staff members were calling them the Minions, after characters in the Despicable Me films.
Workers at the Mountain View Regional Waste Management Commission found the pair in a plastic bag along with two other dead kittens on the morning of Nov. 4 when one of the living cats popped its head out of a pile of cardboard heading down a conveyor belt to a baling machine.
Someone had dumped the bag in a recycling bin at the Westview Co-op grocery store and the kittens were found covered in urine and feces.
They were brought to the veterinary centre where they were given food and medical treatment.
