Residents recently got to enjoy a variety of activities at the Sundre Museum during the 11th annual Winterfest, although the weather was more reminiscent of spring.
"It was really good," said Tami Parkinson, who became the museum's manager in December.
Although she was disappointed to be unable to attend the event, which was held Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 13-14, Parkinson said people have been praising this year's Winterfest and the effort put in by organizers and volunteers.
"The volunteers, board of directors and the manager all work together to make this weekend a success," she said, adding everyone "did an awesome job."
One lady even came into the museum in the days following the event just to say she enjoyed watching the ice sculpting, said Parkinson.
While the ice carving display was certainly a big draw, it was only one of many activities held throughout the weekend. There was also live entertainment, wagon rides, a balloonist and glitter tattooist, a cartoonist, as well as heritage demonstrations, a farmers market and a concession. A leather workshop was also held for youth.
Admission cost $2, although children aged 3 and under got in free, and organizers were able to more than break even, said Parkinson.
"All in all, it was a big success."
