Jim Brosh, a homeowner on 7th Street N.E., says he is very pleased with the work Sundre contactor High Mountain Hoe Service is doing on the water line project in the neighbourhood.
“That contractor has come around and talked to everybody and he has appeased everybody,” said Brosh. “He stops his machinery and he talks to you and he's explained what's going on. I am more than happy with how it has been going. He's been working very hard.”
In an article in the Round Up last week a number of other homeowners on the street said they were very unhappy with the noise, dust and other concerns associated with the project, which has been underway since last year.
High Mountain Hoe recently came on board as a new contractor.
One of those homeowners quoted, Grant Frasier, said after the article came out that he is pleased with the efforts of High Mountain Hoe to alleviate those concerns.
“It's unfortunate that in cases like this sometimes the wrong person looks guilty by association,” Frasier said. “I'm referring to the contactor who's presently completing the final stage of this long drawn out project. The article was in reference to work that has been done to date.
“So far the present contactor has been working very hard and with the residents to make this situation as best as possible under difficult conditions. As often happens in these situations tensions run high and neighbours become pitted against neighbour and so it goes. Let's hope for a speedy completion and a return to normalcy.”
For his part, High Mountain Hoe Service owner Bob Vennard said he is working with residents to help minimize any inconvenience caused by the project.
“We've done our level best to accommodate these folks over here by using pumps that are extremely quiet and submergible pumps,” he said. “And we've fixed up some roadways for their entrance ways coming in. We've made accommodations to allow them to drive into the back of their residences so they don't have to walk in from a parking area.
“We've done everything that we possibility can to avoid any inconveniences. We are trying to get along with everybody and accommodate them as best we can.”
