Four members of the Sundre 4-H Multi Club made their mark at the 17th annual 4-H rodeo held at the Calgary Stampede Grounds on August 23 and 24.
Saige Jackson was the grand champion for the intermediate pole bending category, and Kirstyn Valentine took reserve for intermediate thread the needle.
Shanay Wilson was reserve for the intermediate goat tying, and Codi Wilson took reserve for the intermediate steer daubing.
Rodeo events included timed rounds of thread the needle, pole bending, barrel racing, breakaway roping, cow riding, goat tying and steer daubing.
Each discipline was divided into three age groups, including senior (15-20), intermediate (12-14) and junior (nine-11).
Clinics were also set up at the event where participants received instruction on various aspects of animal care and sports medicine.
There were 66 people from 32 different 4-H clubs – from as far north as the Peace Country to as far south as the Montana border – who participated in the rodeo.
The event was held at the Agrium Western Event Centre on the Stampede grounds. In 2012 and 2013 it was held at Olds College while facilities at the Stampede were undergoing renovations.
