RCMP officers believe alcohol may have been a factor in a collision that sent six young Sundre adults to hospital, one via STARS air ambulance last week.
A 24-year-old Sundre man was picked up by STARS and transported to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary after losing control of a vehicle and hitting the ditch on the east side of town.
Five passengers, all from Sundre and between the ages of 18 and 20, were treated for minor injuries at the Sundre hospital.
Sundre RCMP officers, Sundre firefighters and EMS personnel attended the scene at approximately 4:50 a.m. on Dec. 18 on Highway 27, just east of Rge. Rd. 52.
“Upon arrival, a 2004 Ford F350 was located in the north ditch of Highway 27,” reported Sundre RCMP officers.
“The investigation revealed that the Ford truck had been eastbound on Highway 27 and lost control. The Ford truck left the roadway, travelled through a guardrail and rolled onto its roof into the north ditch.”
An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
