A Sundre man who was recently airlifted to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary via STARS air ambulance after being involved in a single vehicle rollover, is now out of the hospital.
He was treated for serious injuries sustained during the Dec. 18 rollover which sent six young Sundre adults to hospital.
The 24-year-old man was driving a 2004 Ford F350 when he lost control of the vehicle and hit the ditch on the east side of town.
RCMP officers believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.
“There definitely was alcohol involved. The driver had consumed alcohol prior to and up to the time of driving,” said Sundre RCMP Sgt. Jim Lank.
Five passengers, all from Sundre and between the ages of 18 and 20, were treated for minor injuries at the Sundre hospital.
Sundre RCMP officers, Sundre firefighters and EMS personnel attended the scene at approximately 4:50 a.m. on Dec. 18 on Highway 27, just east of Rge. Rd. 52.
“The investigation revealed that the Ford truck had been eastbound on Highway 27 and lost control. The Ford truck left the roadway, travelled through a guardrail and rolled onto its roof into the north ditch,” reported Sundre RCMP officers.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the cause of the collision is still under investigation. No charges have been laid.
Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to call the Sundre RCMP detachment at 403-638-3675 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
