The Sundre RCMP detachment received 86 calls for service between Nov. 16 and Nov. 30, including the following:
Animal calls - 3
911 hang ups - 3
False alarms - 1
Motor vehicle collisions - 21
Suspicious person/property/vehicle - 6
Mischief - 3
Traffic complaints - 5
Stolen motor vehicles recovered - 2
Theft from motor vehicles - 2
Regarding the Alberta Traffic Safety Plan, November was Pedestrian Safety Month and our detachment placed a speed sign at locations in town to remind drivers to be cognizant of their speed and to show pedestrians how a vehicle appears when it is doing the speed limit. The sign will be in and around town until Jan. 15.
This month, the detachment has been focusing on impaired drivers as part of the Alberta Traffic Safety Plan for December. On Dec. 4, our officers conducted a checkstop near the intersection of Bergen Road and Highway 27 as part of a National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day initiative. Sundre members checked several hundred vehicles for driver sobriety. This was well received by the motoring public. We also conducted roving patrols in the Sundre detachment area, which resulted in locating two impaired drivers that were removed from the roadway and subsequently charged.
On Saturday, Dec. 5 at approximately 10 p.m., a lone male was captured on CCTV footage entering the Coyote Creek RV park. He was captured again on CCTV footage departing the area at 1 a.m. He is described as tall, wearing black footwear, jacket and pants that are light in colour and resemble Carhartt outerwear, black gloves and a baseball cap light in colour. Several trailers and sheds had been damaged as they had been broken into and entered; however, it doesn't appear that the male took anything.
