The Sundre RCMP detachment received 166 calls for service between Dec. 1 and Dec. 30, including the following:
4 - 911 hang-ups
37 - motor vehicle collisions
16 - mischief
10 - suspicious person/vehicle/property
1 - assault
1 - cause disturbance
9 - break and enters
8 - traffic complaints
5 - impaired operation of motor vehicle
One notable matter that police investigated was that of several break and enters that occurred in the area. Several items that were stolen from homes were later found by the property's owner for sale on Kijiji. With the assistance of the Airdrie and Olds RCMP detachments, as well as the K Division General Investigations Section, Calgary, a male and female from Balzac were located and arrested. They face several dozen charges between the two of them, which include break and enter and possession of stolen property.
The Sundre RCMP is reminding the public to exercise caution when driving in winter conditions and to ensure that vehicles are properly equipped to operate for those conditions. Police are also reminding the public not to drink and drive, and encourage people to report those who do, so officers can keep the roadways safe. Please be vigilant and report any suspicious people or vehicles to our office.
