Mountain View Regional Waste Management Commission (MVRWMC) officials are proposing a two-day waste pickup to the Town of Sundre.
During the governance meeting on Sept. 9, Al Graham, chief administrative officer and Shirley Lupino, the commission's resource recovery centre manager, told council they believe the change would create better customer service for the same cost.
The commission currently sends two trucks to Sundre on Thursdays, but is proposing to send one on Thursdays and one on Fridays. Graham said staff members have missed the occasional garbage bin in Sundre and believes this would reduce that possibility.
Council voted to accept the presentation for information.
Graham admitted that the Sundre recycling site is not appealing and that the commission is working on providing better customer service.
Mayor Annette Clews asked how waste pickup works in Olds and Lupino said it's a five-day pickup.
Clews also asked about the possibility of curbside recycling in Sundre and Lupino said it would be the town's decision, but that the commission would certainly provide the service.
When discussing the options of a recycling box or rollout container, she explained that the box would cost more than the rollout option because it requires a different system.
