The Sundre U-16 soccer team played well in its district finals over the weekend, but will not be advancing to provincials.
“I'm very proud of my team and it was a great season,” said Kent Pashko, coach of the U-16 soccer team.
The Big Country soccer league district finals were held in Hanna and included the top four teams from the west and the top four teams from the east in the league.
The first game the U-16 team played on Saturday resulted in a 1-0 win against Didsbury but the second game against Three Hills resulted in a 4-0 loss for Sundre.
Pashko said the team excelled through the season, despite being shorthanded, with only 10 players.
The winning team in each division of the district finals is heading to provincials. Sundre's U-12 soccer team is playing in its district finals this weekend in Acme and Linden.
