A former work experience student at the Sundre Municipal Library has left her mark by creating an art piece for the entrance to the children's room.
Emily Plemel graduated from Sundre High School in June and worked at the library during her Grade 12 year as part of a work experience program.
The art piece is a fairy-themed tree archway created for the children's room, and 18-year-old Plemel is pleased with the outcome.
She collected most of her supplies from dollar stores and used Styrofoam and chicken wire to create the trees.
She went with a fairy theme for the girls, because a lot of the artwork inside the children's room is dragon-themed for the boys, she said.
She started building the project in July and finished it this month.
Staff members at the library had asked her to create an art piece so she would leave her mark at the library before moving to Halifax this fall. She will be taking a five-year journalism program at the University of King's College there.
She says she has enjoyed her experience working at the library.
“All the people are great and all the people who spend their time here are amazing people,” said Plemel.
“The library is a really good resource and there's always lots of things happening here.”
