In order to provide high-quality service to the population in and around the town, Dentist Olivia Cui opened West Olds Dental in 2016. Dentist Deokhyun Sung joined the practice in 2020, as he was seeking to work with an outstanding team and clinic.
There is no need to drive to the city for dental care, since West Olds provides it all. One of the services they provide is digital X-rays, which allow for more accurate diagnostics, treatment, and planning. This technology helps in identifying oral health issues that may not be visible to the naked eye. Periodontal treatment is also offered. This involves the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gum diseases, ensuring the health of the gums and surrounding structures. Extractions, including wisdom teeth, are performed. General family dentistry, Invisalign, and dental implants are also provided. West Olds strives to make all procedures as comfortable and painless as possible through a variety of sedation and freezing methods.
Cui cites, “treating our patients the same we would our family,” and “listening to patients' needs and adapting our treatment accordingly,” as two of the many reasons for the clinic’s success.
Sung adds, “Seeing our patients happy and healthy is the most rewarding part of our job. A smile plays a big role in everyone's quality of life and we get to achieve the smile of your dreams as our job!”
For a healthy, happy smile, they recommend:
- Brush your teeth twice a day: Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste to brush your teeth for at least two minutes each time.
- Floss daily: Regular flossing helps remove plaque and food particles from between your teeth and along the gumline, where a toothbrush can't reach.
- Maintain a balanced diet: Limit sugary and acidic foods and drinks, as they can contribute to tooth decay. Instead, opt for a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains.
- Visit your dentist regularly: Regular dental check-ups and professional cleanings are essential for detecting any dental issues early and preventing further complications.
- Avoid tobacco and limit alcohol consumption: Smoking and chewing tobacco can lead to various oral health problems, including gum disease and oral cancer. Similarly, excessive alcohol consumption can also impact oral health.
- Protect your teeth during sports: If you participate in contact sports or activities that carry a risk of dental injury, wear a mouthguard to protect your teeth and mouth.
In addition to helping patients have the best oral healthcare, West Olds Dental is passionate about community service. Their initiatives include anonymously giving deserving families gift cards during the holiday season.
“Olds has the most welcoming and kind people I have met in my entire life. Everyone here is hard working, humble and warm,” says Cui. “Because we are a small community, most of our patients are our neighbours and have heard of us from word of mouth.”
“We would not be where we are without our team and the support of our community,” adds Sung.
West Olds Dental is pleased to be celebrating a Readers’ Choice Award for Best Dentist in the region. They look forward to expanding their practice and continuing to provide the highest standard of care. Learn more online and on Facebook.
