BOWDEN — The town is looking into setting up electric vehicle charging stations in the community, if it can obtain some funding for the project.
Chief administrative officer Greg Skotheim made the announcement during a town council meeting last month.
The Canadian government is matching funds provided by the Alberta government for electric vehicle charging stations.
Skotheim told council he had sent a letter of interest regarding the program.
“It sounds really good. It sounds like it’s 100 per cent funded. It’s up to 200 K, so it’s just a win/win and I think Bowden - we’re in a perfect spot for this,” he said.
However, Skotheim stressed he’s not saying Bowden would receive $200,000 for the project, but it could obtain some funding.
He said the cardlock and the arena are two examples of places where the charging stations could be installed.
“You know, it's something we really need to look into. It’s coming, so let’s look forward. Further information, I’ll get more information,” he said.
