As of Saturday, 43 wildfires are out-of-control in Alberta.

Parks Canada anticipates that all remaining fires in the Jasper townsite will be extinguished today (July 27).

While the vast majority of the Jasper’s population has evacuated, some stayed behind to help out.

According to Parks Canada, 358 structures in Jasper have been destroyed and they could release a list of specific addresses as early as today.

As wildfires burn in parts of Canada and the wind carries smoke into communities near and far, health experts are advising people to regularly check air quality ratings and take precautions.

None of this is fair. Nature always wins. Fire is an element. Everything reduces down at some point.

“Most of our residents will have homes to return to. But some of them won’t. There will be a sad mix of people who have lost their homes and their livelihoods,” Mayor Ireland said.
