The Innisfail Aquatic Centre will be closed Dec. 3 -27 for routine maintenance.
“It gives us an opportunity to make some improvements in the pool,” said Director of Community and Protective Services Terry Welsh. “You're looking at maintaining your mechanical systems.”
Pool walls will be scrubbed thoroughly, painting will be done up at the front and workers will go in and replace any damaged tiles.
Since pumps need to be rebuilt on a biannual basis, the renovation work will give the town the opportunity to get the filtration system back up to optimum performance.
“It's a behind-the-scenes safety effort,” Welsh said.
Any grime or organic matter clinging to the walls of the pool will be removed with the help of a cleaning solution.
“We go through the entire pool deck and make sure it's safe,” Welsh said. “This is what allows us to ensure we're operating at the highest efficiency possible.”
