Groundskeeper attacked
A female groundskeeper at the Bowden Institution was attacked by an inmate, said Cpl. A.J. Mand.
He said the RCMP were called to the prison on Dec. 11 in the afternoon. The woman had physical injuries to her face, hands and elbows but fought off her attacker and was able to call for help, he said.
The inmate was transported to a jail in Edmonton and is being investigated for assault and sexual assault. No charges had been formally laid as of Dec. 13.
Stolen laptop
Someone pried open a garage and stole a laptop on Dec. 11, police said.
The incident occurred on 53 Street.
Hit and runs
A Volvo was damaged after an unknown vehicle hit it in the Pine Lake area.
The incident was reported to police Dec. 7 but happened Dec. 3 between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. The hit caused damage to the front door and the front fender.
A different hit and run occurred in Innisfail in a parking lot on 52 Street. Mand said the driver of a Ford Ranger reported being backed into by an older vehicle, damaging the passenger side door, before it took off at a high rate of speed.
Impaired driver charged
Police stopped a vehicle on 52 Avenue Dec. 8.
They charged a 60-year-old male from Innisfail with impaired driving and driving with a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit.
Burned seat
Damage to the interior of a vehicle was reported to police on Dec. 8.
The mischief happened overnight between 10:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. on 47 Street.
The 2000 Ford F150 had its ashtray ripped out and a hole burned into the passenger seat.
Mailboxes pushed over
Mailboxes on Rge. Rd. 31 were damaged after being knocked over for the third time in six months.
The damage was reported to police Dec. 12. They said it's possible a car backed into the boxes to knock them down.
Taken and recovered
On Dec. 8, a Dodge Caliber was reported stolen from 50 Street in Innisfail. It was later recovered after being abandoned on Highway 2A near Penhold. The theft is still under investigation.
On Dec. 10, a 1993 Dodge Caravan was stolen between 6:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. from the 49 Avenue area in Innisfail. The vehicle was recovered but Mand did not know from where.
