Cross-country
Chinook's Edge School Division will host a K-6 cross-country run Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Town of Innisfail will clean and insure washroom facilities at Centennial Park, supply eight to 10 barricades for the event and will perform extra mowing if necessary.
Last year's event attracted 900 participants, while this year up to 1,000 are expected.
Curling club defogs
The town agreed to allow the Innisfail Curling Club to install a machine to help reduce humidity levels which will ensure ice quality and promote a long-lasting building.
“They've purchased a used dehumidifier unit – what they call a defogger – from the Red Deer Curling Club,” said Terry Welsh, director of community and protective services. “They would like to mount that into the roof structure of the curling rink.”
The curling club provided stamped engineering drawings, which were reviewed by the town's engineer.
Currently the curling rink's air movement is handled by a mechanism similar to the exhaust system in the arena, but the new defogger will help preserve the integrity of the building by reducing corrosion.
The curling club is required to seek permission from the town if they want to make any changes to the physical condition of the rink.
