The second annual Gala Awards Evening returns this week.
The Innisfail and District Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Innisfail will host the awards ceremony during a public event at the Royal Canadian Legion on Oct. 18.
“Innisfail has so many outstanding citizens that volunteer in our community that we think it's great that every year the town recognizes and honours these residents,” said Maymie O'Dwyer, gala committee member. “It's been going on for a long time, probably close to 30 years.”
In fact, the duo is presenting awards in four categories to individuals, companies and farm families that have provided invaluable customer service to the community. It symbolizes the local movers and shakers that have been shaping business around the area.
The chamber of commerce is presenting the Business of the Year Award, the Customer Service Award, the Business Contribution Award and the Farm Family of the Year Award.
In addition, the Town of Innisfail is presenting the Mayor's Recognition Award, Sports Team of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year, Citizens of the Year, Male Athlete of the Year, Leaders of Tomorrow, Community Cultural Award, Coach Recognition Award and Community Builder Award.
“It's a great time to reward the people that have done well with their business over the years,” said Doug Bos, president of the Innisfail Chamber of Commerce. “It's a big thing for the chairman to recognize people for their achievements.”
The event is open to the public and tickets are being sold for $35 each, or $245 for a table of eight people.
