The Multiplex Board Bylaw was sent back for revision before the third and final reading is passed during the regular Penhold town council meeting Nov. 12.
Councillors present voted in favour of completing the second reading but discussed several suggested edits brought forward by Coun. Danielle Klooster. Coun. Wendy Dodman and Mayor Dennis Cooper were absent from the meeting.
Council had originally sent the bylaw back after first reading for rewording on the appointments. They'd had it switched from a representative from the school division to a member specifically from the future Penhold high school that will be attached to the multiplex.
“The focus was to keep it local,” said Rick Binnendyk, the town's chief administrative officer.
Klooster then brought up her suggested changes, which council agreed with.
Changes included changing wording to make it clear the board is an advisory one, altering wording and the title of the board to Multiplex Advisory Board.
“I know that we have had a lot of discussion about the line between operations and advisory committees,” she said.
Another change was adding a third “whereas” to the document, making it clear that multiplex management can benefit from the ideas and networks of the members of the board.
Klooster's edits included adding a statement that the multiplex manager should bring forward to council that pertains to strategic directions or finances.
“If it's involving things that pertain to council … it needs to come to council,” she said.
The third and final reading of the bylaw will be held at a later date.
