The 37th Annual Ivan Daines, Friends and Heroes Country Music Pick-nic was yet another success, seeing dozens of recording artists and thousands of people, who came out to enjoy the unique blend of country music and horse demonstrations.

However, the four-day event, which took place Aug 7th through 11th at the Daines Ranch and Rodeo Grounds, was not just about music, horses and family entertainment, it was also about coming together as a community.

The idea behind the event was to blend music with horseman ship, giving attendees the opportunity to listen to live country music while watching live horse demos.

This year's Pick-nic featured more than 100 entertainers, including country musicians Bobby Wills, who has been nominated this year for three Canadian Country Music Association awards.

Also headlining the event were hometown favourite recording artists Denver Daines and recording artist Tera Lee.

“The weekend exceeded our expectations, as it usually does,” said Ivan Daines, organizer of the event.

“We had a ton of positive feedback and there was a good vibe present throughout the weekend. All in all, we were very impressed.”

On Wednesday, August 7th there was a free concert, which saluted everyone who donated to the flood recovery since the recent disaster had swept over southern Alberta in June.

“We're looking forward to next year. This event seems to get better and better each year,” said Daines.
