While municipal law enforcement received more complaints last month than they did in August, fewer provincial and municipal tickets were issued, according to official community peace officer reports provided to town council.
In September 2012, officers issued 16 tickets totalling $2,845 for traffic and other provincial offences, down from 20 tickets totalling $9,662 the previous month. In September 2011, 32 provincial tickets were issued, totalling $11,043.
And while 15 municipal tickets were handed out in September, totalling $1,087, this is down from 22 tickets handed out in October, totalling $1,312. In September 2011, 16 municipal tickets were issued, totalling $982.
This September peace officers received 48 complaints, up from 41 in August and 35 in September 2011. Seven complaints are listed as “still under investigation,” compared with five in August and seven in September 2011.
Officers logged 103 hours of investigation, 119 hours on patrol and 49 hours of administration in September. In August officers logged 139 hours of investigation, 122 hours on patrol and 49 hours of administration. In September 2011 officers logged 98 hours of investigation, 133 hours on patrol and 30 hours of administration.
The number of animal bylaw tickets also dropped, with three issued for a total of $240, down from nine tickets totalling $950 in August. No such tickets were issued in Sept. 2011.
