The prospects that hit the ice at the Penhold Regional Multiplex Centre to try out for the Penhold Amazons on Sept. 26 were looking good.
Rick Potter, one of this year's co-coaches, was pleased with what he saw.
“We had 28 good quality (players),” he said.
They came up a little short on netminders, however, with only one goalie coming out to try out.
“We're beating the bushes right now,” he said.
The prospects that tried out showed “lots of speed, lots of youth,” he said.
Per game the Amazons can dress up to 21, but Potter said they might go up to 25 players in total.
They'll be sitting down to talk to the women about their school and work schedules to see if they'll be able to accommodate them.
“The final number will be based on that conversation,” he said.
The Amazons' first home game will be Oct. 13 at the multiplex. The first weekend of October they're heading out on a road trip to Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.
Admission to Amazons games was $2 last year.
