Flight from police
Innisfail RCMP received a call for assistance from the Olds detachment on Sept. 30.
The Innisfail cops were tapped to look in the Pine Lake area for a possible suspect in a stolen vehicle.
The Innisfail police located an individual in a white truck who fled from police, driving through fences and fields, eventually getting away.
The driver was allegedly Thomas Thorne, 20, who was eventually arrested back in Olds Oct. 1. He is facing three theft of vehicle charges, four charges of failing to comply with an undertaking and one count of possession of stolen property related to incidents in Olds, one theft of a vehicle, one count of flight from police and one public mischief charge in Innisfail and one count of theft over $5,000 related to an incident in Three Hills.
Thorne is already facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, theft of a motor vehicle, theft of a cellular telephone, one count of driving while disqualified and one count of failing to comply with a probation order. Those charges stem from a search warrant that was executed in Olds Sept. 5.
Thorne appeared in court via closed-circuit television last week and is due back Oct. 15.
Transfer station broken into
The transfer station at Horn Hill, which is east of Penhold, was broken into Oct. 2, police said.
Cpl. A.J. Mand said a semi truck was driven through the fence and then left in a field. A pickup truck was also driven out of the property and abandoned on a highway.
An attempt was made to steal a front-end loader. Windows were also smashed and thousands of dollars of damage was caused, Mand said.
He asked if anyone saw anything to let the RCMP know.
Tickets laid after accident
Mand said there was a motor vehicle accident on Oct. 1 at 10:30 p.m. that Innisfail RCMP responded to.
When they arrived at the scene they arrested a drunk female. She was not charged with impaired driving but was detained for being drunk in public.
She was suspended from driving for 24 hours, Mand said, and is facing about $800 worth of Traffic Safety Act tickets.
Lock your vehicles
RCMP reported a vehicle on 50 Avenue was ransacked on Sept. 30.
Mand said that there have been lots of complaints coming in from people on 56 Street about vehicles being searched by an unknown person. He suggested residents remember to lock their car doors.
Stolen Jet Ski
A thief made off with a Jet Ski from the Pine Lake area Oct. 1.
Police said a Kawasaki STX-15F model was taken. It's red and was stolen from a property close to Pine Lake.
School bus vandalism
Vandals entered a school bus that was parked on 51 Avenue on Oct. 1.
Mand said the unknown person took the registration papers and bent the bus's mirror.
Jerry cans and fishing gear taken
A rural property located east of Innisfail was the scene of some mischief and a theft Sept. 30.
The incident was reported to Innisfail RCMP Oct. 2. A farm truck was moved and four jerry cans and some fishing gear was stolen.
Drugs found
On Oct. 1, staff at the Bowden Institution found a package of drugs on the ground between the two fences.
Mand said the package contained a smorgasbord of drug types.
The incident is still under investigation.
