Business break and enter
A business on Fleming Avenue in Penhold was broken into Oct. 20.
Police said the break-in occurred between 4 and 6 a.m. A suspicious truck was spotted on the railway tracks but took off. There is no description available.
Access to the building was gained through a sliding door. Cpl. A.J. Mand said a computer and some tractor keys were taken.
A trailer on the same property was also broken into and tools were taken. The lock was broken to gain access.
Lease site theft
On Oct. 22, a lease site in a rural area east on Highway 590 was broken into via a window.
Tools like a socket set and drill bits were stolen, along with copper wire.
Hit and run
RCMP officers were able to track down and charge a suspect in a hit-and-run accident that damaged another vehicle that occurred in Spruce View last week.
A man from Innisfail was charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
Mand said the damage to the hit vehicle was minimal.
Anti-virus program stops fraud attempt
A woman reported to Innisfail RCMP on Oct. 20 that she had turned her computer on in the morning only to find a web page with a message that her computer was locked up and she had to send $250 via PayPal to have it released.
Mand said she had an anti-virus program which deleted the page.
Impaired driving charges laid
A 22-year-old man from Edmonton was charged with impaired driving and driving with his blood-alcohol level over the legal limit Oct. 20.
The police had received a report of a single-vehicle rollover on the QEII near the exit for Highway 590 at about 3 a.m. The man was taken to hospital for minor injuries and later arrested and charged.
Home vandalism
On Oct. 19, it was reported a residence on 41 Street in Innisfail had been vandalized.
Police said graffiti had been placed on the home overnight.
Attempted vehicle theft
Someone attempted to steal a couple of vehicles from a business near the intersection of Highway 42 and Rge. Rd. 275 Oct. 24.
Mand said two vehicles had attempts made on them and a third vehicle was also entered. Damage was done to the vehicles but nothing was stolen from them.
Material thefts
On Oct. 22, $1,300 worth of house siding was stolen from a residence in Penhold.
The same day, copper wire was taken from a gas well site near Rge. Rd. 251.
Stolen property found
On Oct. 22, RCMP officers stopped a vehicle travelling on Highway 42 and discovered the truck, the trailer it was pulling and tools in the vehicle were all reported as stolen.
The Innisfail man was charged with possession of stolen property, driving with no insurance and driving while suspended.
Mailboxes broken into
On Oct. 20, two Canada Post rural mailboxes were broken into.
The locks were cut off on a set at Highway 54 and Rge. Rd. 30 as well as at a site near Rge. Rd. 284 and Highway 592.
Dodge stolen
On Oct. 21, a blue 2005 Dodge Caravan was reported stolen out of Markerville.
