Valentine's Day vacuum smackdown
A 38-year-old Innisfail female was hit twice with a vacuum cleaner by her drunk husband, she told police over the phone at 3:48 p.m. on Feb. 14.
Innisfail RCMP attended the scene immediately and charged Richard Taylor, 42, with assault with a weapon, common assault, uttering threats and failure to comply with a probation order. He was released on $5,000 bail and his first court appearance was scheduled for Feb. 21.
Biz break-ins
On Feb. 14 a break and enter to Bow Diesel Injection Ltd. was reported to Innisfail RCMP at 8 a.m. The padlock was cut and entry was gained to the compound sometime the previous night. Though a snowplow was disconnected from an ATV and then moved, a police officer attending the scene did not find anything removed from the property.
Half an hour after the first incident came to light a second intrusion was reported, this time to Amp'd Electric & Control Ltd. Sometime the previous night a flatbed trailer was moved slightly, although nothing was damaged or stolen and entry was not gained to the building.
Paper caper
On Feb. 21 at 9:15 a.m. police received word of theft from a vehicle. A silver Hyundai was broken into and the insurance and registration papers were found to be missing.
Mysterious events
A 49-year-old male woke up from a nap to find two young females sitting on the couch in his rural home, according to a report he filed with police at 9:07 p.m. on Feb. 10. One of them had red hair and one had a bandage on her head, he said, adding they took off towards Innisfail in a maroon Pontiac Sunfire. Police did not locate the girls.
Later the same day he reported the theft of a shotgun from a truck. Police believe the man may have been hallucinating.
Vehicle vandalism
The window of a 2011 Ford Focus on 46 Avenue was smashed out. The incident was reported to police at 10:24 a.m. Feb. 21. No one is currently suspected in the incident.
Holy smash
A crowbar was used to pry open the east door of the Innisfail United Church sometime on the night of Feb. 17. The phone line was cut and access was gained to the office area where a security gate and audible alarm were removed from the wall. Modems and routers were broken and $640 taken. The incident is still under investigation.
