Innisfail RCMP are issuing a warning to recreational drug users to stay away from a new powerful pill substance circulating in town that claimed the life of a local teenager on Jan. 20.
RCMP Cpl. A.J. Mand said a 19-year-old male died at home after taking a pill, described as a mixture of fentanyl and OxyContin, that was inscribed with the initials CND. He said it is not known at this time how many of the pills the deceased consumed. However, he said the substance was not manufactured by an accredited pharmaceutical company.
ìYoung people have to be aware of what they are purchasing. You never know the mixture you might be getting,î said Mand, who said earlier this month there are drug problems with the young in town. ìLosing a life at such a young age is tragic. It not only affects the community but also the family and anyone associated with the deceased.î
