Guitar theft suspects nabbed

INNISFAIL - Two local area men are facing possession of stolen property charges in connection to the break-in and theft of thousands of dollars worth of guitars and musical equipment from a rural building near the town. Innisfail RCMP Sgt.

INNISFAIL - Two local area men are facing possession of stolen property charges in connection to the break-in and theft of thousands of dollars worth of guitars and musical equipment from a rural building near the town.

Innisfail RCMP Sgt. Lori Eiler said local Mounties responded to a report on Jan. 15 of a break and enter to a rural property east of Innisfail.

Eiler said a property outbuilding had been entered and a large amount of musical equipment and instruments were stolen.

She said Innisfail RCMP, with the assistance of K Division Serious Crimes Branch General Investigation Section, began an investigation, which led them to a location in Red Deer.

Innisfail RCMP observed two males at that location in possession of stolen property and arrested both without incident, said Eiler.

She said Mounties recovered a number of the stolen items but are still looking for missing musical equipment, including a Roland Phantom keyboard and Roland 08 keyboard, saxaphone, sound board, Hurcules boom stands, cordless mics and control boxes, compact sound system and speakers and amps.

Brandon Wegner, 28, of Central Alberta , has been charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000 for the purpose of trafficking  and two counts of breaching a recognizance . Justin Schilling, 26, of Central Alberta has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 for the purpose of trafficking.

Eiler said both men have been remanded in custody pending bail hearings at Red Deer provincial court.
