Another Mountain View County planner has resigned.Candace Banack, who has worked in planning and development services for about two years, left last week to take a position with the Town of Cochrane.Banack's departure is the sixth from the beleaguered department since last October's municipal elections, with the senior planner, administrative assistant and planning intern resigning, the manager of planning terminated, and the director of planning leaving her position on June 30 in a ìmutual professional parting of ways.îBanack, 27, said there were many factors that led to her decision.ìIt's no secret there's been a lot of changes, and it's been tough at times ñ staff changeover isn't easy,î she said.Accepting the new opportunity in Cochrane, she said, ìI thought I would try the urban side of things for a while.îEarlier this summer, CAO Tony Martens admitted morale had taken a hit in the department following the announced departure of former director Diana Hawryluk, who left due to a ìgapî that existed with some councillors in their working relationship with her.A former county planning director, John Rusling, was hired to replace Hawryluk on an interim basis. Hawryluk is now the director of planning for the City of Regina.
