The Snyders-Blok family of rural Carstairs has won $100,000 in Co-op’s multi-province Fuel Up To Win promotion contest.

Peter Snyders-Blok and his parents Jeroen and Terry will share the prize, which was presented during a ceremony in Olds on May 22.

The contest involved the collection of stickers, with seven specific game stickers needed to win the grand prize.

“Nobody ever knows a winner, and now all of a sudden not only do I know a winner, it’s actually me and my family,” said Peter, 31.

He explained that he plans to use his portion of the winnings to pay off debt and take a vacation to Europe.

“There’s a huge sense of relief that comes with this as well as excitement,” he said. “This is a clean slate to me.”

Dennis Laing is the general manager of Olds-based Westview Co-op.

“It’s even more exciting when a member of our local Co-op wins a major prize,” said Laing. “This is the biggest prize that is available in the Fuel Up To Win contest and it’s the first time Westview Co-op has had the honour of presenting it.”

Peter says the family plans to play the game again next year.

“It’s been an amazing experience,” he said.
