Commission approves permit applications

The Mountain View County municipal planning commission approving authority has approved building permits for two projects, one in Division 5 and one in Division 7.

The moves came during the commission’s Oct. 3 regularly scheduled meeting in council chambers.

One permit is for a dwelling, single detached with attached accessory building (shop) and accessory building (sea can) and a northerly side yard setback relaxation.

The subject parcel is located about two kilometres north of Twp. Rd. 322 on the west side of Rge. Rd. 15 in the Rosebud rural neighbourhood in Division 7.

The proposed $200,000 building is 3,600 square feet, with the dwelling being 1,600 square feet.

“In September the landowner met with county administration regarding a complaint file for an unauthorized development; a berm on the northeasterly and northerly portion of the property, a sea can, one recreational vehicle and utility trailers stored on site,” administration said in a briefing note to council.

“Administration has reviewed the application and can support the application for the following reasons (including) berming is a use that can be considered on a country residential parcel and the proposed development should not impact the enjoyment of adjacent properties.”

The commission also approved a permit for a proposed business, home based contracting trucking and solid board fence.

The parcel is located within an area with country residential lots along Twp. Rd. 32A at SW 20-32-5-5 in the McDougal Flats rural community.

“A solid board fence was constructed on the property during the review of the application,” administration said. “The applicant was advised to stop construction of the fences at the location in the floodway. The fence requires development permit approval and supporting information to demonstrate how the fence will not impede the flow of water.

“The supporting information demonstrates that the fence will not have a detrimental impact on the flow of the water as the fence can be removed.”
