A $3.1 million contract to repave a major resource road in Mountain View County may end up costing less than anticipated.Shell Canada, Mountain View County, and the MD of Bighorn are sharing in the cost to repave Burnt Timber Road (Township Road 304).They anticipated Border Paving would have the road complete by tomorrow.As of late last week, work hadn't even started, said Michael MacLean, director of Operational Services for Mountain View County.“On October 17, they go into penalties and we hold them responsible for not being completed,” MacLean said.The penalties will reduce each of the three parties' share of the cost of repaving the road, he said.
