CREMONA – The Cremona village council has rescinded 12 policies that were no longer pertinent to the village.

The move came during council's recent regularly scheduled meeting.

"Most of them were relating to the community peace officer, which we haven't had for over five years," said CAO Luana Smith. "We are going to review our council attendance at events policy and our water restriction level policy. Those are under review."

Council approved sending a letter to the Cremona Skatepark Association guaranteeing that land would be made available for a skatepark.

Smith said the letter would allow the association to apply for grants and fundraise.

Council approved $10,064 for Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) funding for various organizations.

Council also approved $16,000 for additional renovations to the fire hall.

"The fire department have been doing renovations. We had grant money for that and that's all done. But they still needed an additional $16,000 to finish some renovations and so council approved to split that fifty-fifty with the county," she said, noting the village will pay $8,000 and the county $8,000.

Council approved $300 for the Farm Safety Centre for programs in the schools.
