Retired Olds auctioneer Harry Drever was recently honoured by the Auctioneers Association of Alberta for 50 years of membership in the organization.
Drever was a longtime partner in Rosehill Auction Mart, beginning in 1960. He stayed on until 2010.
As for his longevity calling out bids, Drever said he always found it a pleasure to work with the ranchers.
"I was brought up with livestock and cattle and I sold mostly cattle and I liked doing it. It was good to work with the ranchers and the farmers and the cattle buyers. They're a good group of people, so that I guess that's why I stayed as long as I did,î said Drever.
