A frost advisory was issued Monday for Mountain View County along with urban centres near it due to low temperatures.

Environment Canada’s 3:26 p.m. Sept. 16 alert included a special weather statement for Mountain View County near Carstairs, Cremona, Water Valley, Olds, Didsbury and Sundre.

“Frost may damage frost-sensitive fruit trees and vegetable plants. Overnight minimum temperatures are likely to reach the freezing mark tonight in some locations," the federal agency said in the alert.

The federal agency issues frost advisories when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.
