The Mountain View Cowpoke Junior Rodeo club held its second rodeo of the season at the Raecer Ranching Riding arena east of Sundre on Nov. 21.
The daylong event featured participants up to 14 years of age competing in goat tying, goat untying, pole bending, steer riding, breakaway roping and barrel racing.
There were 63 competitors with about 100 parents, grandparents, siblings and others coming out to watch.
Ryden Hillock won the seven and under goat tying event, with Casey Cyrankiewicz finishing second.
Cyrankiewicz won the seven and under pole bending event, with Erika Webb finishing second and Ellie Havens finishing third.
Messina McConnell won the six and under goat untying event, with Ellie Havens finishing second and Bristie Kugler finishing third.
Erika Webb won the seven and under barrel racing event with a 17.08 time. Casey Cyrankiewicz finished second with an 18.44 time, and Ellie Havens finished third with a 23.4 time.
Tyler Craig won the steer riding event with a 72 score. Dusty Golden finished second with a 70 score and Brandon Sahli finished third with a 63 score.
Denton Argent won the 12-14 breakaway roping event.
Reagan Tebb won the 8-11 goat tying event, with Hannah Sheehan finishing second and Kasha Borsy finishing third.
Kyla Kelly won the 12-14 goat tying event, with Denton Argent finishing second and Jaymie Conrad finishing third.
Kennedy Chaytors won the 8-11 barrel racing event with a 14.79-second time. Tynell Schooten finished second with a 15.26 time and Cayden Cyrankiewicz finished third with a 15.87 time.
Jacey Barnett won the 12-14 barrel racing event with a 15.39 time. Traci Edmondson finished second with a 15.39 time and Kaidence Lashmore finished third with a 15.63 time.
Presley Chaytors won the 8-11 pole bending event, with Kasha Borsy finishing second and Emma Webb finishing third.
Jaymie Conrad won the 12-14 pole bending event, with Allie Pals finishing second and Kyla Kelly finishing third.
Club secretary Patricia McKean explained that the Nov. 21 event included support for families and individuals.
“We collected donations for the local food bank and we filled a big box. It was a successful rodeo event and everything ran very smooth. We were very happy,” said McKean.
The Mountain View Cowpoke Junior Rodeo now has 80 members. The club's next rodeo is Jan. 30 at the Raecer Ranching Riding arena.
