Attempts so far by Mountain View County to buy the required amount of land for the proposed Acme Road reconstruction project has hit a roadblock.“There's people that want the project and people who don't want the project,” Michael McLean, the county's director of Operational Services told councillors last week.Five land acquisitions worth $9,312 have been completed thus far for right-of-way along the stretch of the chip sealed road between Highway 22 and Highway 766 that the county intends to turn into pavement. The county has budgeted $75,000 for land deals required for the project to go ahead, tentatively scheduled for 2013.Several landowners say they won't sell their land, said MacLean.County officials are meeting with landowners today to go over the $6.1 million project.“I have no appetite for expropriation,” Div. 6 Coun. Paddy Munro said during council's discussion on the matter last Wednesday.
