A new skating rink built by community members in Water Valley has been very well utilized and supported by many area children and adults since opening in December, says Larry Mizera. The president of the Water Valley Community Association, Mizera said the rink has been attracting skaters from across the region, including from Cochrane, Airdrie and Cremona. There were, for example, more than 80 kids and adults enjoying the rink on December 29. "I am hoping we can develop this great asset as a permanent recreation area for the future,î he said. "There are always many happy faces and a lot of gratitude from the public.î He noted that new rink required 15,000 gallons of water to flood, and that community volunteers are maintaining the rink.
