An Olds-area horse rescuer is a nominee in a popular horse magazine’s contest recognizing those who improve the lives of equines in Canada.

DIDSBURY - It was a big weekend for Essentials for our Community last weekend as the organization, which helps provide services for those less fortunate, held three separate fundraisers.

CARSTAIRS - A licence from Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) to operate a retail cannabis store has recently been granted to Canna Corp. for 1115 Hammond Street in Carstairs. The store will be the first of its kind in Carstairs.

DIDSBURY - The Town of Didsbury has been notified that it will be receiving funding to aid with infrastructure improvements prior to the provincial budget being passed.

CARSTAIRS - A different way of planning green space is resulting in the town’s first naturalized park which is progresing in large part due to community.

As consultations on the proposed Farm Freedom and Safety Act wind down this week, the province’s minister of agriculture says common themes have emerged.

DIDSBURY - After about three months on the job, Craig Fox is settling into his role as manager of public works and infrastructure for the Town of Didsbury. Fox replaced Greg Skotheim, who left to take over as CAO in Bowden.

CARSTAIRS - A couple of residents are putting together a group to raise money for local charities. The group, 100 Strong Carstairs, is modelled after similar groups in larger centres.
