INNISFAIL -- It's election day and the big messaging from all seven Innisfail-Sylvan Lake riding candidates is over.

INNISFAIL – Voters in the province did not wait until election day to have their say. Thousands of citizens across the province voted in the advance polls between April 9 and 13, including many here in the riding of Innisfail-Sylvan Lake.

Some of the candidates seeking election in the Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills and the Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre ridings have addressed Mountain View County council, outlining their respective plans and taking questions from councillors.

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY -- A local farmer and former Mountain View County councillor has patented an invention he believes could revolutionize firefighting.

DIDSBURY -- The Didsbury Fire Department recently handed out awards to honour some of its top firefighters.

Mountain View County council has approved a one per cent tax increase in all categories for 2019-2020. The move came by way of motion at the recent regularly scheduled council meeting. The new residential tax rate is 2.

With the 2019 provincial election campaign now at an end, the 2019 federal election race is already unofficially underway. Who will come out on top in the federal battle remains anyone’s guess.

Police believe gunfire that struck an Eagle Hill residence on Sunday morning was deliberately targeted at the occupant, according to Olds RCMP Staff Sgt. Jim MacDonald. At about 4:40 a.m.
